VST: DOE ~$4.2B nuclear uprate loan reported — shares ~+6% overnight; Wright at Perry plant Mon

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Reuters (citing a person familiar) and Bloomberg report the US will lend Vistra about $4.2B to uprate at least three of its four nuclear stations — more output without needing new NRC licences. Energy Secretary Chris Wright is expected to announce it Monday at Vistra's Perry plant on Lake Erie, Ohio. DOE and Vistra hadn't confirmed at the time of the reports. VST traded ~+6% in the overnight session (per Stocktwits).

Context: Vistra runs six reactors at four plants, >6.5 GW. The story plugs straight into the AI-power-demand theme, so watch sympathy in CEG/TLN and the nuclear basket (CCJ, OKLO, SMR) at the open.

Scalper read: "reported, official announcement due today" — the presser can be a sell-the-news pop or a second leg if terms (size, rate, timing) beat the leak. Overnight high and Friday's close are the obvious levels.

Gap-and-go on the open, or waiting for the Wright event? Does this lift the whole nuclear group or stay a VST story?
