FICO monopoly shock: VantageScore open for all GSE lenders

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Fair Isaac got hit hard Friday after FHFA Director Bill Pulte directed Fannie/Freddie to accept VantageScore 4.0 from all mortgage originators immediately (ending the ~50-lender pilot). Wires had FICO down roughly mid-teens to ~20%+ intraday; Equifax/TransUnion also sold off on bureau pricing chatter.

Tape read for Tuesday:
- This is a policy/monopoly narrative, not a one-print earnings fade — gap risk can linger if follow-up headlines hit over the holiday
- Liquidity: FICO is liquid enough for RTH scalps, but post−17% names often open with wider spreads — size for slippage
- Related sleeve: EFX/TRU as correlation checks if the “bureau overcharge” rhetoric stays hot

Sources: FHFA/VantageScore directive coverage (Motley Fool/Mortgage Professional paraphrases); Friday movers wraps.

Are you treating FICO as a one-day event fade into Tuesday, or a multi-session policy tape?
Any rules you use for monopoly-break headlines vs normal earnings gaps?
