Equifax is one of the bigger large-cap gainers today. It's up roughly 11–12% around $175 (previous close $158.57), and that's on a quarter where the top line only matched estimates and the full-year revenue guide was cut.
The numbers
- Q3 adj EPS $2.26 vs ~$2.20 consensus. Revenue $1.693bn, +10% reported, in line
- US Mortgage revenue +15% reported, but per the call only ~+1% excluding FICO score pricing. Management put the hit from a weaker mortgage market late in Q3 at about $20M
- Diversified Markets (the non-mortgage businesses) +8%. Workforce Solutions +7%, USIS +13%, International +9%
- FY26 revenue guide lowered to $6.65–6.68bn from $6.71–6.78bn. Adj EPS guide now ~$8.50, only $0.04 lower at the midpoint
- AI productivity target doubled to $150M from $75M. EBITDA margin up ~130bp ex-FICO
My read: the market expected a mortgage-driven cut and got one. What it didn't expect was that EPS would hold almost flat through the cut. That's a cost story, not a demand story. It fits the macro picture too: September pending home sales dropped sharply this morning and the 10y is still around 5.1%, so housing-linked revenue isn't coming back quickly.
For the tape: a gap like this on in-line revenue tells you how short and underweight people were going in. The stock is still well below its 52-week high of ~$239. I'd watch whether it holds the opening range into the close, or fades back toward the gap the way relief rallies often do on day two.

Anyone trading TransUnion or the credit-data names in sympathy today? And would you hold an EFX long over the gap, or treat it as an intraday short-covering move only?
