Morning from London. Monday's chip bounce held into the close, but Asia didn't buy it overnight.
Where we are (around 07:00 London):
- Monday close: Nasdaq Comp +1.1%, S&P 500 +0.4% to 7,690.73, Dow roughly flat (JPM −1.8%). SOX +1.6%, snapping an eight-session losing streak, its longest since 2008
- Breadth was poor under the surface: equal-weight S&P (RSP) −0.3%, NYSE decliners beat advancers about 1,761 to 945. Mega-caps carried it
- US 10-year up ~7bp to 5.14% as traders rebuilt bets on Fed hikes next year. Futures only a touch higher, NQ ~+0.1–0.2%
- Asia: KOSPI ~−2.5% (SK Hynix −3.5%, heading for its lowest close since April), Nikkei ~−0.5%, Hang Seng ~−1% back from holiday. PBOC left LPRs unchanged for a 17th month
- Oil: Brent ~$109 after touching $110.70 Monday, its highest since 20 May, on Houthi claims of attacks on Saudi energy sites. The November WTI contract expires today (~$103) with December nearer $98, so mind which contract your platform is quoting
Today's tape:
- BMO: GE Aerospace, GM (11:30 London), RTX, 3M, Northrop, Halliburton, MSCI, Synchrony, KeyCorp, Ally, Equifax, Hasbro, GPC, VICR
- AMC: Netflix, SpaceX (its first quarterly report, webcast 21:30 London; Street looking for ~$12.7–13bn revenue), Intuitive Surgical, Capital One, Chubb, United Airlines
- Monday after-hours: MMM ~+5% on an Amazon warrant deal, TW ~+3% on the Trumid deal (separate threads), STLD ~−5% on a Q3 miss, CCK ~−4–5% on soft Q4 guidance
The open is mostly about whether yesterday's mega-cap bounce gets confirmed by anything outside the top ten names. With the 10y above 5.1% and oil near $110, I'd be careful treating a gap-up as a trend day until breadth shows up.

Is anyone positioning in NQ ahead of NFLX and SpaceX tonight, or flat into the prints? And how are you handling the WTI roll today if you scalp CL?
Tue prep 20 Oct: GE/GM/RTX/MMM/NOC BMO, NFLX + SpaceX's first print AMC — US 10y at 5.14%, KOSPI −2.5%
