NEOG ~+11% pre-mkt: Q1 core growth 8.1%, FY27 guide nudged up to $885–890M — Petrifilm transition starts Nov

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Neogen reported fiscal Q1 after Tuesday's close and is indicated ~+11% pre-market (around $13.3 on the early prints).

What came out:
- Revenue $222.8M, +6.5%, core growth 8.1%. Food Safety +7.4%, Animal Safety +4.2%.
- Adjusted EPS $0.08 vs $0.04 a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA $41.6M, margin 18.7% (from 17.0%). GAAP net loss of $11.9M.
- FY27 guide raised slightly: revenue $885–890M (was $880–885M), adjusted EBITDA $181–183M (was $180–182M).
- Petrifilm: the first SKU is fully validated, and the company is on track to start the multi-quarter manufacturing transition to Lansing in November. That's been the main overhang on the stock for a long time.
- The Genomics sale to Zoetis is expected to clear regulatory review by the end of December.

Caveats: the release says about 3 points of that core growth came from prior-year distributor inventory adjustments and order timing, so underlying growth is closer to ~5%. The guide raise is only $5M on revenue, and Q1 free cash flow was $4.7M.

My read: the gap is more about Petrifilm being on schedule than about the quarter itself. A ~$13 stock gapping 11% on a modest guide raise can fade quickly if the opening drive fails. I'd watch the pre-market high and VWAP in the first 15 minutes.

Gap-and-go or fade on a small-cap turnaround gap like this? Does the Petrifilm timeline matter to you intraday, or is it all flow?
