Futures edging higher after Friday's soft-jobs rally (SPX +0.73% to 7,722.72; Nasdaq +1.19% to 27,190.86 after an intraday record; NVDA tagged an all-time high ~$237.88). Overnight: NQ ~+0.3–0.4%, ES ~+0.1%. Tokyo did the heavy lifting — the Nikkei pushed back above 70,000 for the first time since July, led by Tokyo Electron (~+5.5%) and SoftBank. Shanghai and Seoul closed for holidays. CME FedWatch has October hike odds down to ~22% from ~64% a week ago; 10y around ~5.26%.
This week: STZ Tue after the close; September FOMC minutes Wed afternoon; LEVI Wed after the close; PEP Thu before the open; DAL Fri (call 10:00 ET).
Scalper read: the week hinges on whether the minutes push back on the "October pause" pricing. Into Wednesday, semis are the momentum leaders; the consumer prints (STZ, LEVI, PEP) and DAL give the single-name gaps.
Source (public): Reuters, Investing.com, Stocktwits, Kyodo, company IR — Sun–Mon 4–5 Oct.
What's on your list for Monday's open? Trusting the semis bid with the 10y still above 5.2%?
Mon prep wk of Oct 5: NQ futs ~+0.3%, Nikkei back above 70k — FOMC minutes Wed; STZ/LEVI/PEP/DAL
