Oil: Saudi East-West restart + 6-session slide — Brent ~$98 / WTI ~$89; EIA 10:30 ET

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Crude extended losses into Wednesday Asia/Europe: Brent ~−1% near $98.2, WTI ~−1.5% near $89 — both on a six-session losing streak toward ~two-week lows. Fresh supply angle vs Tuesday’s Hormuz diplomacy headline: Saudi Arabia restarted the East-West Pipeline to the Red Sea (Yanbu loadings had been halted after mid-Sep drone disruption), with reports of more MidEast barrels offered outside Hormuz and Iraq also talking higher export rates. Industry data also showed a ~1.8M-barrel US crude build (week to 18 Sep); official EIA weeklys due 10:30 ET.

Diplomacy still in the mix — Trump called UN-side Iran talks “very good” / “productive” even while keeping hard rhetoric — but today’s tape is pricing *supply back online* as much as a deal. Not a rehash of the “Hormuz reopen in ~7 days if US eases” offer already on the board.

Scalper map: XLE / integrateds / refiners vs airline/fuel-cost relief names; watch whether EIA confirms the build and whether WTI holds the high-$80s into the US cash open.

Sources (paraphrase): Reuters oil wrap 23 Sep 2026 (East-West restart, six-session decline, inventory/data notes).
Fading energy on the restart, or waiting for EIA before picking a side?
