Evening from London. GOOGL is one of the few mega-caps in the red today. It's down about 2% (around $332 late morning NY) while QQQ and XLK are up roughly 1%.

What's out there
- OpenAI and Google Cloud announced this morning that OpenAI's frontier models (GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6 Luna) plus Codex are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden. Private preview starts now and GA is due "in the coming weeks"
- Customers can pay through Google Cloud Marketplace and draw down their existing GCP commitments. OpenAI says Microsoft is still its primary cloud partner. After AWS, Google is the second hyperscaler to get OpenAI since Microsoft's exclusivity ended in April
- The bigger driver for the stock seems to be Sundar Pichai's comment that Google Cloud is deliberately giving up some revenue so DeepMind keeps first call on scarce compute. The market reads that as capacity-constrained Cloud growth and some customers walking over to AWS and Azure

How I read it: on paper the OpenAI deal is a win for Cloud distribution, since Google can now say it has all three leading closed models. The tape is focused on supply, though, not demand. MSFT (−0.3%) and AMZN (−0.5%) barely moved, so this is a GOOGL-specific move and not a sector rotation.

For scalpers: GOOGL vs QQQ relative weakness is the clean intraday read. Into the close I'd watch whether it keeps lagging while META and TSLA prints are pending after the bell, because those can swing the whole mega-cap complex tonight. Alphabet's own Q3 is next week, so expect capex and Cloud capacity questions to stay in the headlines.

Is anyone pairing GOOGL short vs QQQ today, or is this just a dip to buy ahead of earnings? Do you think compute scarcity is bullish (demand) or bearish (lost revenue) for the Cloud names?
