IRON +40% pre-market into its own Phase 3 readout: Disc Medicine APOLLO webcast at 13:00 London

One for the risk folder rather than a trade idea.

Disc Medicine (IRON) is indicated roughly +35–42% pre-market (around $79–81 vs Friday's $56.84 close) and the actual data aren't out yet.

What we know:
- Sunday the company said it will host a webcast at 8:00 ET today (13:00 London) to discuss topline results from APOLLO, the Phase 3 placebo-controlled trial of bitopertin in EPP (erythropoietic protoporphyria, a rare light-sensitivity disorder)
- About 183 patients, with endpoints on sunlight tolerance and blood PPIX levels
- Context: the FDA issued a Complete Response Letter in February asking for more evidence. APOLLO is meant to answer that, with an updated decision expected by mid-2027
- Putting a webcast on the calendar for a Monday-morning readout is being read as a sign the data are good. That's inference from the market, not something the company has said

Why I'd be careful:
1. Thin pre-market book in a ~$2bn biotech. A 40% gap on a few thousand shares can disappear in seconds once the headline drops
2. "Positive" is not the same as "good enough". If the endpoint is hit but the effect size or safety is underwhelming, a sell-the-news reversal from +40% is very possible
3. Halts. If the release lands near the open, expect volatility halts and wide spreads, with stops filling well past your level

If you want exposure, I'd wait for the numbers and the first 5–15 minutes of cash trading rather than buying the anticipation gap. Size as if the stop won't fill where you put it.

Do you ever trade biotech binaries pre-data, or only after the numbers are out? And how do you size a stop on a name that can halt three times in the first ten minutes?
