Interactive Brokers printed after Thursday's close. The headline was a shrug (adj EPS $0.67, roughly in line — CNBC/LSEG had $0.68), but the account metrics are what matter if you use them as your broker.
Numbers from the release and coverage:
- Net revenue: $1.91bn GAAP / $1.87bn adjusted vs ~$1.87bn expected, up from $1.66bn a year ago
- Commissions: $602M (+12%) on daily average revenue trades +18%, even with stock share volumes down ~24% y/y
- Net interest income: ~$1.1bn (+19%) on bigger margin loans and customer credit balances
- Accounts: 5.58M (+35%); customer equity ~$965bn (+27%)
- Customer margin loans: ~$105bn (+36%) — leverage across the client base keeps climbing
- Pre-tax margin: 78%, its eighth straight quarter above 70%
- Quarterly dividend raised from $0.0875 to $0.15
Tape: the stock was up ~2.3% to $86.03 in the session, then slipped ~1–2% after hours. "Good but priced" seems to be the read.
The detail I'd watch as a client: margin loans growing faster than equity, with rate-hike odds back on the table. If volatility jumps, house margin changes tend to land quickly.

IBKR users here: have you noticed tighter house margin on the AI names this month? And does the fall in share volumes while trade counts rise match how you trade — more, smaller tickets?
