One of the cleaner defensive movers today while the tape rotates out of tech.

Kimberly-Clark (KMB) put out preliminary Q3 numbers in an 8-K, three weeks ahead of the full report:
- Adj EPS (continuing ops) ~$1.70 vs ~$1.59–1.62 consensus; net sales ~$4.13bn, roughly in line
- Organic sales -1.3% (vs +2.5% a year ago); operating profit ~$516M vs $621M
- FY26 outlook reaffirmed; full Q3 results and call on 5 Nov
- Hours earlier, Chinese authorities said no formamide was found in its products, knocking down the social-media claims about Huggies that had hit China sales. RBC called it a meaningful overhang removed.
- Why prelim now: KMB said it opens the calendar for close-related activity on the ~$40bn Kenvue deal, including debt issuance. That's the bit I'd keep an eye on, since a big bond deal can weigh on the stock and on KVUE spread trading.

Context: staples were bid broadly (CPB ~+5%, GIS/CAG ~+3%) as money left semis, so not all of the move is KMB-specific.

How I'd treat it: beat looks cost-driven, not volume, and organic is still negative. Fine as a rotation long on pullbacks while tech is heavy; I wouldn't chase extension if NQ catches a bid into the close.

Anyone playing the staples rotation through single names like KMB, or just XLP? And does the Kenvue debt deal change how you trade it?
