Mon prep 12 Oct: futures bid as oil slides on Trump "energy ceasefire" — banks Tue, CPI Wed

Morning from London. Quiet Monday on the US calendar, busy week ahead. Futures are green after the weekend oil move: S&P ~+0.2–0.3%, Nasdaq 100 ~+0.2–0.5%, Dow ~+0.2–0.3% depending on the print you catch.
Where we left Friday:
- S&P +0.59% to 7,811.54, Nasdaq +0.64% to ~27,366, Dow +0.83% to ~51,655. Weekly gains ~0.5–1%.
- 10y around 5.24% into the close. Banks still soft into earnings (KBW has been under pressure on the yield move).
- AH leftovers from Thursday/Friday still matter for Monday opens: HUM ripped on CMS stars (already covered), and CCC jumped on PE talk (separate thread).
Overnight / weekend:
- Trump posted that Russia and Ukraine had agreed an immediate "energy ceasefire." Both main crude contracts sank more than 1% (Brent toward ~$103, WTI toward ~$90 area on the prints I saw). Kyiv sounded surprised and said Russia hit power plants Sunday; Moscow has not confirmed. Houthi strikes on Saudi transit hubs over the weekend briefly spiked oil before that fade.
- That oil drop is the main bid under US futures and Asia (ex Seoul/Taipei chips). Tokyo closed for holiday.
This week (ET) — the real tape:
- Tue BMO: JPM, GS, C, WFC, plus JNJ and UNH. Street is treating bank NII / trading / credit as the open of Q3 season. We already flagged the KBW setup last week.
- Wed: September CPI (and BAC/MS/BLK). Consensus chatter has been sticky headline vs softer core — verify the actual print, don't trade the preview number.
- Thu: PPI + retail sales. Fed meets Oct 27–28.
How I'm approaching Monday:
- Thin holiday-adjacent open. Prefer waiting for the first 15–30 minutes rather than chasing the oil-relief gap.
- Energy (XLE / majors) vs airlines/transports is the cleanest cross if crude keeps sliding — but treat the ceasefire as headline risk until Moscow confirms.
- Keep size light into Tue bank prints. The alpha today is mapping levels, not forcing trades.

Anyone trading the oil fade in XLE/XOM into the open, or sitting out until Tue banks? And does the ceasefire look tradeable to you, or just noise until Russia confirms?
