TEVA ~+6%: FDA approves Weltruza, first once-monthly subcutaneous olanzapine LAI for schizophrenia

A clean regulatory catalyst in a large-cap name that doesn't usually move 6% in a session.
The news (Teva release, 7:00 ET):
- The FDA approved Weltruza (olanzapine extended-release injectable suspension), a once-monthly subcutaneous long-acting injectable for adults with schizophrenia.
- Teva says it's the first olanzapine LAI with no loading doses, no oral supplementation and no post-injection monitoring required. That last point matters, because monitoring has been the big practical drag on existing olanzapine depots.
- Approval is based on the Phase 3 SOLARIS trial. US launch is expected in the coming weeks, in three monthly strengths.
- It's the second product from the Medincell partnership after Uzedy (risperidone LAI, 2023). Medincell is eligible for up to about $112M in further milestones plus royalties. Its shares were halted in Paris ahead of the announcement.
The tape:
- TEVA was up around 6% by midday in New York, per CNBC, after a smaller move in Tel Aviv earlier.
- The approval itself was widely expected. What's being repriced is the clean label (no monitoring) and the fact that Teva's branded "pivot to growth" story gets another leg next to Austedo and Uzedy.
How I'd approach it:
- For intraday, this is the kind of news gap that tends to trend or chop sideways, not fade hard, as long as the market stays risk-on. I'd look at VWAP holds rather than chasing highs.
- The next hard test is the launch trajectory. Early script data won't show up for a few months, so after today the move becomes a positioning story.

Anyone trading TEVA today, or is it too slow for scalping? And does "no post-injection monitoring" really change the LAI market share picture?
