CCI ~+12%, AMT ~+8%, SBAC ~+6%: towers bid as SpaceX's 800 MHz buy revives the "new tenant" trade

Day two of the SpaceX spectrum story, and it is a clean pair trade on the screens: carriers down, towers up.
What happened:
- On Thursday evening SpaceX agreed to buy Grain Management's nationwide 800 MHz low-band spectrum portfolio for Starlink Mobile. SpaceX said the band gives it a coverage layer that gets through walls and into buildings.
- Low-band is the stuff that needs ground infrastructure. The market is reading that as SpaceX possibly becoming a fourth paying tenant on US tower sites.
- Crown Castle was up around 12% by midday, American Tower close to 8% and SBA around 6%. On the other side, TMUS was down about 13% and T/VZ around 10% each (we covered the after-hours carrier slump in the Thursday thread).
The caveats:
- There's no SpaceX tower contract. This is a re-rating on an option, not on revenue. Bernstein called the build option "very much alive" but also pointed out that buying spectrum isn't a commitment to build.
- TD floated the idea that SpaceX may partly be bluffing to pressure carriers into a cheap wholesale deal. That would be a bad outcome for towers, because their biggest tenants are the carriers being sold today (AT&T is reportedly ~28% of CCI site rental revenue).
- These are rate-sensitive REITs that have been crushed over five years (CCI down ~55%, per CNBC). Some of today's move is likely short covering in a crowded underweight.
How I'd trade it:
- CCI is the momentum name, while AMT/SBAC are the slower followers. Watch whether CCI holds the morning range into the close, or whether it fades like a typical Friday short squeeze.
- Rates are still the bigger driver for towers over weeks. Keep the 10y in the corner of the screen.

Do you buy towers as a real winner here, or is this a one-day squeeze? And is anyone pairing long CCI against short TMUS?
