WDC/STX bounce ~+1.5–2% pre-mkt after Friday's −10% Toshiba HDD scare — Bernstein/Citi/MS say buy the dip

Quick follow-up on the storage names. Friday WDC and STX both closed down ~10% after a Nikkei Asia report that Toshiba plans to spend ~¥60B (~$380M) on its Philippines HDD plant and double AI-drive capacity by its FY2027. The worry: more supply undermines the pricing power both CEOs have been leaning on.
Over the weekend the sell side pushed back. Bernstein called it a "storm in a teacup" and would buy the dip (Outperform on both). Citi says the industry is still shipping well short of demand and also likes buying the selloff. Morgan Stanley sees the HDD supply/demand gap through 2028 as wider than anything Toshiba can add. Result: WDC ~+1.7% and STX ~+1.6% pre-market (per Stocktwits) — a modest bounce compared with Friday's hole.
Scalper read: the key levels are Friday's close and Friday's low (WDC printed ~$396.6). A weak bounce that stalls below Friday's VWAP is a different trade from a reclaim. The memory group (SNDK, MU) barely moved Friday, so watch whether it leads or lags here.

Dead-cat bounce or real reversal? Would you trust analyst "buy the dip" notes on day 2 of a supply scare?
