Regional bank guide cut into the post-hike tape — funding-cost story, not a credit-print scare.

At Barclays Financial Services (16 Sep): Huntington (HBAN) lowered 2027 adjusted EPS to $1.75–$1.83 from prior $1.90–$1.93 (midpoint ~$1.79, ~−6.5% vs old midpoint). Management also trimmed implied 2026 revenue growth (~34% from ~37%). Framing: deposit pricing pressure + softer loan-growth assumptions. Session reaction ~−5.5% (close ~$15.82) on heavy volume. Context: Fed just hiked; HBAN moved prime 6.75%→7.00%, but Q2 NIM was already −3 bps QoQ while interest-bearing deposit cost rose +8 bps Seq to 2.29%.

Scalper read: post-FOMC regional-bank sensitivity via NIMs/deposit beta — not a rehash of the hike itself. Size vs liquidity; avoid treating it as “banks are broken” until Q3 NIM / organic loan growth confirm.

Fade into the close, or wait for a Q3 NIM confirmation before touching regionals?
