Wed: WTI soft after API crude +7.1M — fade Tue’s energy spike?

London morning — inventory tape vs yesterday’s supply scare.
WTI settled Tue ~$105.83 (+4.4%) and Brent ~$108.75 (+2.9%) on Red Sea / Saudi export disruption headlines. Overnight/Wed Asia, both benchmarks eased after API-linked reports of a ~7.1M barrel US crude build (vs expectations for a draw), plus gasoline/distillate builds. Energy was the only green S&P sector Tue (~+2.3%); XOM/CVX led.
Scalper read:
- Separate the geopolitics premium from the inventory fade — don’t mix theses in one ticket
- If you’re long energy from the spike, define the give-back level before NY; if fading, respect that supply-risk headlines can re-accelerate
- Diesel already ran hard into records earlier this month — watch whether product cracks or crude leads today

Are you treating XLE as a mean-reversion short into Fed, or still long the supply-premium?
What’s the level that kills the fade thesis for you?
