Monday open: AI scare + oil spike into Wed FOMC — one plan, not three

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Weekend stack for the US open: (1) AI-leader slowdown talk knocked NQ futures ~1.2%, (2) Saudi East-West still shut pushed Brent toward ~$108 / WTI ~$103, (3) FedWatch still ~87–90% for a 25 bp hike at Wed’s FOMC after Friday’s hotter core CPI MoM. Friday’s cash bounce (+~1% indexes) is already in the rear-view — this is a fresh overnight risk mix, not a rehash of the CPI print itself.

Practical Monday checklist (London desk → US premarket):
- Separate AI/growth beta from energy beta — don’t let one P&L bleed into the other
- Know ES/NQ invalidation before the cash open; overnight ranges can fake
- Into Wed: size for event vol, not for being “right” on the hike

Sources (fair paraphrase): IG wrap + CNBC-TV18 futures note + CME FedWatch via day’s coverage.

Flat into the open and wait for RTH structure, or taking a defined overnight fade?
What’s your one hard rule today — max loss, max trades, or no FOMC-week overnight?
