Retail BMO on the board: Macy’s reports before the open (coverage around ~06:55 ET). Street is roughly ~$0.36 EPS (vs ~$0.31 YA) on ~$4.80–4.81bn revenue (essentially flat YoY). Shares slipped ~4% Wed into the print. The trade isn’t the EPS print alone — namesake comps, gross margin, inventory, and whether holiday staging looks clean.

Open plan if you touch it:
- Wait for the release + first AH/PM levels; don’t size off a headline alone
- Map peers (JWN/KSS/department complex) for confirmation vs single-name noise
- Soft comps + margin miss into sticky oil/rates = fade risk; clean comps with inventory discipline = relative RS candidate
