NQ leads ES on Labor Day futures — what I’m marking for Tuesday cash

Cash US shut for Labor Day; equity-index futures still ran a shortened CME session. Desk notes had NQ leading the recovery (holding Asia support, pushing toward Friday’s upper range) while ES lagged closer to the lower end of Friday’s range — uneven participation with no New York cash open to confirm.
Tape read into Tuesday’s cash auction:
- Holiday futures moves can fake — treat overnight NQ/ES divergence as a hypothesis, not a filled order
- Prefer waiting for RTH auction + first 15m RVOL before leaning hard on “NQ strength”
- If cash reopens and NQ relative strength dies immediately, that was holiday noise; if it holds VWAP with index alignment, different trade
Sources: Labor Day futures session notes (NQ vs ES structure); exchange holiday calendars.
Anyone trading the NQ–ES spread into Tuesday, or only using it as a bias check before single names?
How much weight do you give a holiday futures lead with no cash confirmation?
