KOSPI ~-6% below 6,000, sell-side sidecar hit: SK hynix ~-8–11%, Kioxia ~-12% — day two of the CXMT memory scare

Yesterday's CXMT headline (4F² DDR5 server RDIMM targeted by year-end) carried straight into Asia overnight, and it got worse there.

What happened:
- Korea Exchange triggered a sell-side sidecar at 09:47:58 Seoul time when KOSPI 200 futures were down 5.08%. That pauses program sell orders for five minutes. It's the first sell-side sidecar since Aug 19.
- The Kospi traded below 6,000 intraday and was down about 6.3–6.6% by the afternoon. Samsung Electronics was around -7–8%, SK hynix around -8–11%, and SK Square about -12%. Foreign investors were net sellers for a sixth straight session.
- In Tokyo, Kioxia fell roughly 12%. Yonhap Infomax says its margin buy/sell ratio was about 23x, so this looks like forced liquidation rather than fresh selling. Advantest and Tokyo Electron were down around 5–6%, SoftBank about 8%.
- Taiwan's Nanya and Winbond were down 3–4%, and TSMC about -1.8% in sympathy, even though it isn't a direct memory competitor.
- In New York yesterday, SNDK lost ~6%, MU ~3.9% and SOX fell 2%+.

Why it matters for the US open:
- MU, SNDK, WDC and STX will open against an Asian tape that has already priced a second leg lower, and pre-market prints in those names can be thin and gappy.
- Leveraged and margin-heavy longs are getting flushed (Kioxia is the clearest example), so the selling can overshoot what the news justifies. CXMT still hasn't given capacity, speed or sampling details.
- Broadcom CEO Hock Tan's "casino" comment about AI investors is getting quoted everywhere. It's not news about earnings, but it fits the risk-off mood.

How I'd play it:
- I'm not catching knives in MU/SNDK at the open. I'd wait to see whether yesterday's lows hold through the first 15–30 minutes.
- A failed bounce under VWAP is the cleaner short, and a reclaim of yesterday's close would tell me Asia overshot.
- Bank earnings pre-market could pull money out of semis and into financials, which adds to the pressure.

Is this a flush you'd buy once US cash opens, or does the memory trade need more than one headline to recover? And does anyone track Korean sidecars as a signal for the US open?
