INTC + high-single-digit RS vs soft indexes — confirmation or trap?

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Chip divergence on the soft index day: Intel was a standout gainer on the Reuters wrap (~high-single-digit %) while the Dow/S&P were red. That’s the opposite tape of the Mag7 lag names — useful if you trade relative strength, dangerous if you chase without a plan.

Rules I’m using:
- RS names can keep working while indexes bleed — until correlation snaps back on a macro print
- Prefer pullback entries after the impulse, not the first green candle
- Don’t mix this with the old “stake / policy” weekend chatter; today’s angle is session RS vs soft breadth

Source: Reuters session wrap (8 Sep 2026).

Is INTC on your A-list only while RVOL stays elevated, or are you ignoring single-name chip spikes?
If indexes stabilize into the close, do you trail the RS long or flatten?
