KLAC / equipment RS: Friday ~7–8% rebound vs soft indexes

Post by LondonNewsTrader »

Separate from the MU/SNDK memory sleeve already on the board: Friday’s chip-equipment bounce was loud while SPX/Dow finished soft. KLAC roughly +7–8% (no fresh company PR that day), with LRCX and other fab-tool peers in the same rotation after weeks of equipment profit-taking. Process-control / WFE narrative — AI packaging + inspection intensity — is the fundamental backdrop; the tape question is whether relative strength survives a holiday reopen.

Price-action checklist for Tuesday:
- Does KLAC / equipment open with RVOL and hold the first 5–15m VWAP, or is it a one-print gap that dies into the auction?
- Index soft + equipment firm = relative long only after noise clears — no market-order heroics at 09:30 ET
- Failed RS (gap up, then back through VWAP while ES stabilizes) = fade the narrative, not invent levels

Sources: Friday KLAC/equipment mover wraps (Quiver/TradingKey-style paraphrases); sector RS vs soft indexes.

Anyone marking KLAC as a Tuesday A-list name, or only watching it as a SOXX/equipment tell?
First reclaim of VWAP or first failed break — which is your default after a holiday on a +7% name?
